Friends For Animals Sanctuary
Friends for Animals Sanctuary (FFAS) is building a a no-kill, no-cage domestic animal sanctuary in Cocoa. Plans call for an administrative building, an intake center, isolation area and veterinary clinic as well as a cat cottage, small animal cabin, several dog bungalows, dog rehabilitation lodge, community cat haven, farm animal barn, memorial garden and a dog training facility.
The Sanctuary works closely with Sheriff Ivey and his Pet Posse to bring large domestic animals in danger of abuse or neglect to the Sanctuary. FFAS has worked, for years, with the North and South Animal Care Centers to receive the dogs and cats that need additional love and care before being adopted. FFAS does not accept owner-surrendered pets.
Sociable animals will live in communal areas, similar to small houses, with large fenced yards and will receive constant human interaction. Before animals are placed in their forever homes, they will be spayed or neutered and will receive necessary veterinary care.
While awaiting the construction of the Sanctuary, FFAS has rescued more than 200 dogs and cats, some, moments from euthanasia. They have since been adopted into loving homes, where they enrich the lives of the people who live with them.
While an animal is being fostered, FFAS provides full financial support to ensure the animals are not further neglected. All veterinary bills are covered, as well as food, treats, bedding and even toys are funded though generous donations.
