Resource Center for Disability Solutions
Resource Center for Disability Solutions was originally founded in 1975 and subsequently called the Space Coast Center for Independent Living, created to help persons with disabilities lead independent lives within their homes and communities.
The Center is one of 15 centers in Florida providing resources to persons with disabilities. Our mission is to provide services and programs promoting independence for all people with disabilities. Our service area includes Brevard and Indian River Counties. The services and programs assist persons with disabilities gain and/or keep independence, assist with personal and systems advocacy, provide group and individual Independent Living Skills Training, provide Information and Referral, coordinate Peer Support meetings and outings, provide transition services from institutions and assist youth transitioning from school to the workforce and independent living. Our services are not based on income or insurance requirements, they are provided at zero cost to persons with disabilities.
Additional services provided include: Transportation to registered consumers in wheelchair accessible vans, free amplified FTRI telephones for those with hearing loss and a durable medical equipment loan closet lending items such as wheelchairs, walkers, shower chairs and various other equipment to those who may not be able to access the needed items.
