About
Habitat for Humanity of Brevard County, Inc. (Habitat) vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live. We are seeking to put God's love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.
Habitat is a vehicle of change to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Like any vehicle, it needs fuel to run (funding); routine maintenance to sustain efficiency (over 10,000 volunteers); and designers to develop new models (a world without poverty).
Habitat offers opportunities for first-time home buyers to purchase a simple, decent, affordable house with zero interest, zero profit 20 - 30 year loans and an average monthly mortgage between $300 and $400.
Potential homeowners qualify by meeting three (3) criteria:
(1) Need - Inadequate/ substandard housing or spending 33% of their income on housing
(2) Ability to pay a mortgage
(3) Partner with Habitat.
Each adult household member invests a minimum 200 sweat equity hours: 25 community service, 25 financial / homeowner educational for everyone over age 16, 50 building other Habitat houses, and 100 building their own house.
Habitat creates sustainable funding through Habitat ReStore sales, our Team Build Brevard, and Critical Home Repair Programs.
