BAC RECOGNIZED FOR INCLUSIVE ADA COMPLIANT WEBSITE

Press Release

Leading internet accessibility company accessiBe recently recognized BAC for their inclusive and ADA compliant website aiding individuals with disabilities. Sadly, less than 4% of all websites are currently accessible, making it extremely challenging for the 1.5 billion globally disabled individuals to harness the internet’s potential.

Realizing that web accessibility is of crucial importance to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities, especially in gaining equal access to employment opportunities regardless of their ability, BAC began an official partnership with accessiBe in 2020.

“Everyone deserves equal access to the internet’s information and services. Our mission and strategic goals closely aligned with accessiBe whose top priority is to facilitate internet accessibility for all, irrespective of their abilities,” stated Keri Goff, BAC’s Director of Community Relations.

With the realization that in an ideal world, all websites would be accessible and users would not need to sift through endless inaccessible sites to find the ones that are inclusive, accessiBe announced the launch of accessFind in March 2021. Their understanding of the web accessibility gap resonated with BAC, who was proud to become a founding member. At its launch, accessFind revealed at least 120,000 websites that were accessible for users. The site is the first-ever search engine that caters to users with disabilities, delivering them an index of readily accessible sites.
